Tuesday, November 27, 2012 - A man from the coastal region yesterday appeared before a court
in the area for allegedly burning a neighbor with hot water and beating her.
The man pleaded guilty to the assault charges presented to him.
The prosecutor said that on
November 22 at Majengo estate in Mombasa Kennedy Kizingo had had an argument
with his neighbor Ann Mweni Wambua. After the argument Kizingo who was boiling
water to prepare ugali took the water andpoured on
her.
He then beat her up as she
raised alarm. Neighbors who heard Mweni’s cries managed to rescue her from the hands of
Kizingo and rushed her to hospital where she was treated and discharged.
Mweni later recorded a
statement with Makupa police station leading to Kizingo’s arrest.
Appearing before the senior
resident magistrate Elvis Michieka, Kizingo pleaded guilty to the offense and
pleaded with the court to be lenient. He was sentenced to one year in prison or
Sh. 30,000 fine.
